Microbiology Master’s Degree Online

    The University of Florida’s online Master of Science in Microbiology & Cell Science with a concentration in Medical Microbiology and Biochemistry is an entirely online master’s degree that can be completed in as little as one year.

    The online MS degree also offers courses from the University of Florida’s Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology and Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, both through the College of Medicine.     Master's Degree

    The 30-credit master’s degree mixes short 1-credit modules with 3-credit courses and includes a special course about career options.     Microbiology Introduction Track

    The University of Florida’s online MS in Microbiology & Cell Science with a concentration in Medical Microbiology and Biochemistry program is academically demanding and requires a solid foundation in upper-level science coursework. For students transitioning from different backgrounds into the program, an introduction track provides the necessary framework to successfully complete the remaining coursework.

    The two required courses for the introduction track include:

    Admission Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (recommended major in the sciences)
    • 3.0 overall GPA, and 3.0 upper division GPA (Rules on calculating GPA)
    • Recommended (but not required) undergraduate courses for applicants:
      • Biochemistry
      • Organic Chemistry
      • Physics
      • Biology
      • General Chemistry
    • GRE examination with a minimum score of 300

    Tuition and Fees

    The cost per credit hour is $535 plus fees. The total approximate cost ($16,050 tuition plus an estimated $400 fees) is $16,450.

    Additional costs for required textbooks are not included in this number, and the fees are approximate. Registration costs follow the standard tuition and fee rates for the University of Florida.
