The Microbiology and Cell Science online graduate program includes courses offered by the University of Florida College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Department of Microbiology and Cell Science as well as courses from the College of Medicine Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology and Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

MGM Faculty

The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology (MGM) at the UF College of Medicine houses a distinguished group of researchers in gene expression, RNA processing, DNA replication, genomics, gene therapy, molecular basis of disease and the mechanisms of viral and bacterial pathogenesis.

MGM plays a central role in several interdisciplinary research programs in the Health Science Center. Affiliated centers include the UF Genetics Institute, the Powell Gene Therapy Center, the Center for Mammalian Genetics and the University of Florida Brain Institute. The department takes pride in maintaining a modern scientific perspective and an extremely collegial atmosphere, fostering creativity and a free exchange of ideas.

BMB Faculty

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at the UF College of Medicine is an exciting community of scholars involved in teaching and research. The teaching mission of the department is carried out through our various professional, graduate and undergraduate instructional programs, which include 20 full-time faculty and clinical and postdoctoral fellows. Research training is provided in a broad area of the molecular biosciences. Interested students are welcome to visit our outstanding facilities to meet with our faculty and learn more about the stimulating intellectual and educational environment that is provided by the department.
